While at dinner with a couple close guy friends last night, I found myself in one of my thinking modes I seem to find myself in pretty often lately. A few years ago, I stumbled into a new kind of community. I was dragged into a completely different type of friendship than what I was used to. Before this, my friends and I only hung out at school and rarely ever out outside of school. It took me a couple years to really truly belong to this group. Although I wasn't born in a rough neighborhood nor was a raised in one, I seem to be able to fit in just fine with the people that were. These are the people that belong to this group of friends.
This group of friends will stick by your side unless you fail to follow the unwritten rules. We're closer than most families. We do not let someone struggle, get hurt, or go through hard times alone. We're all in it together and we don't leave a single person behind. If someone gets jumped, we might as well have all gotten jumped. If someone is starving, we might as well all be starving. If someone is ill or in a bad situation, we might as well all be there right next to that person. We don't snitch on each other. We share a bond so strong nothing and no one can ever break it.
